Information
The English Premier League consists of 20 teams and operates on a double round-robin format, with each team playing every other team twice — once at home and once away. In each match, the winning team receives 3 points, the losing team receives 0 points, and both teams earn 1 point in the event of a draw. At the end of the season, teams are ranked according to their total accumulated points. If two or more teams finish with the same number of points, rankings are determined first by goal difference, then by total goals scored. If teams are still tied — particularly for the league title, European qualification spots, or relegation, head to head results (including away goals in those matches) are taken into account. If the tie persists, a playoff match will be played to decide the final outcome.
The top four teams in the final standings qualify directly for the group stage of the next season’s UEFA Champions League. The fifth-placed team qualifies for the UEFA Europa League. The winner of the FA Cup qualifies for the Europa League. If the FA Cup winner has already secured European qualification through their league position, the spot is passed to the highest-placed Premier League team that has not yet qualified for any European competition. The winner of the EFL Cup (Carabao Cup) qualifies for the UEFA Conference League qualifying rounds. If the League Cup winner has already qualified for Europe via the league, the spot is awarded to the next highest-placed team in the Premier League that has not qualified for any European competition. If both the Champions League and Europa League winners are Premier League clubs and neither qualified for the Champions League through their league position, the fourth-placed team will participate in the Europa League instead.
The bottom three teams in the Premier League table will be relegated to the EFL Championship for the following season.
