Information

The ASEAN Football Championship does not have a host country; the ASEAN Football Federation is responsible for coordinating the match venues. The final stage features ten teams, one of which is determined through the qualifying rounds. The participating teams are first divided into two groups for a single round-robin tournament, with the top two teams in each group advancing to the semi-finals. The semi-finals and the final are played as a two-legged home-and-away knockout format; in the event of a tie on aggregate, a 30-minute extra time period is played, and if the score remains level after extra time, a penalty shootout will be held. If two or more teams within a group finish with the same number of points, their rankings will be determined according to the following order: a) Points earned in head-to-head matches; b) Goal difference in head-to-head matches; c) Number of goals scored in head-to-head matches; d) Goal difference; e) Total goals scored; f) Fair play points; The ASEAN Football Championship (ASEAN Football Championship, formerly known as the Tiger Cup) is an international football tournament held every two years, organized by the ASEAN Football Federation. All participating countries are from Southeast Asia. The inaugural edition was held in 1996, and due to sponsorship by Tiger Beer, the tournament was officially named the Tiger Cup. In 2007, the tournament was renamed the ASEAN Football Championship. In 2008, it received sponsorship from a Japanese automobile manufacturer, and was therefore officially named the Suzuki Cup ASEAN Football Championship.
