If two or more teams have the same number of points, they are ranked according to the following criteria: a. Points earned in head-to-head matches; b. Goal difference in head-to-head matches; c. Goals scored in head-to-head matches; d. Goal difference in group-stage matches; e. Goals scored in group-stage matches; f. Goals scored in away matches in group-stage matches; g. Wins in group-stage matches; h. Wins in away matches in group-stage matches; i. Fair-play points; j. UEFA ranking for the 2026–2027 season. The UEFA Nations League is structured as follows: 1. The 55 participating teams are divided into four tiers—A, B, C, and D—based on their UEFA ranking. The initial tiering system was determined by the points earned by each UEFA association. 2. The tournament is held in even-numbered years, with matches played through to the final stage in the following year. 3. The league operates on a promotion/relegation system: the bottom-placed teams in Groups A, B, and C will be relegated, while the top-placed teams in Groups B, C, and D will be promoted. 4. The UEFA Nations League offers four direct berths to the UEFA European Championship finals. Final Stage Format 1. The four group champions from Group A will advance to the final stage in the following year, with the match venues selected among the participating nations. The final stage will consist of four matches: two semi-finals, a third-place play-off, and a final. 2. If a group’s champion has already qualified for the UEFA European Championship finals through the Euro qualifiers, the playoff berth will be passed on to the best-performing team in that league. 3. If the league does not have enough teams to field four teams for the playoff, the spots will be filled based on overall league rankings, depending on the circumstances. 4. In the UEFA Nations League third-place play-off, no extra time is played; the match ends directly with a penalty shootout after regular time. If the match remains tied after regular time, a 30-minute overtime period is played, and if the score remains unchanged, a penalty shootout is conducted.
